How to merge an existing tracking template with Lunio

Do you already use a tracking template in your Google Ads account? No problem, just follow this guide to merge them.

Please Note: If your tracking template contains {unescapedlpurl} at any point, please reach out to our support team for a custom tracking template configuration.

If you are using another tracking template within your Google Ads account it can easily be merged with Lunio to ensure you still get the data you need.

Please follow the steps below for whichever situation relates to your current tracking template:

 

A. My current tracking template starts with {lpurl}

If your template starts with {lpurl} (such as with a call tracking or CRM tracking service) then merging is simple. For the purposes of this example, we will assume your tracking template is as follows (anything following a similar format will work):

{lpurl}?keyword={keyword}&campaign={campaign}&matchtype={matchtype}

Simply complete the following steps to merge it with Lunio:

  1. Fetch your Lunio template from your Lunio dashboard. It will look similar to this:
    https://monitor.ppcprotect.com/v1.0/template?accid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&kw={keyword}&mt={matchtype}&nw={network}&cpn={campaignid}&devi={device}&devm={devicemodel}&locp={loc_physical_ms}&loci={loc_interest_ms}&pl={placement}&cr={creative}&adp={adposition}&ruid={random}&sadt={adtype}&url={lpurl}

  2. Remove the {lpurl} section from your current tracking template - in our example, it then becomes:
    ?keyword={keyword}&campaign={campaign}&matchtype={matchtype}

  3. Paste the remainder of your current tracking template on to the end of your Lunio tracking template. In our example, the complete template then becomes:
    https://monitor.ppcprotect.com/v1.0/template?accid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&kw={keyword}&mt={matchtype}&nw={network}&cpn={campaignid}&devi={device}&devm={devicemodel}&locp={loc_physical_ms}&loci={loc_interest_ms}&pl={placement}&cr={creative}&adp={adposition}&ruid={random}&sadt={adtype}&url={lpurl}?keyword={keyword}&campaign={campaign}&matchtype={matchtype}

Please remember to use your own tracking template for this, the above is just an example.

B. My current tracking template does not start with {lpurl}

If your current tracking template does not start with {lpurl} then you are using a redirect tracker. For this example, we will be using the example template below:

To merge this with Lunio, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Fetch your Lunio template from your Lunio dashboard. It will look similar to this:
    https://monitor.ppcprotect.com/v1.0/template?accid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&kw={keyword}&mt={matchtype}&nw={network}&cpn={campaignid}&devi={device}&devm={devicemodel}&locp={loc_physical_ms}&loci={loc_interest_ms}&pl={placement}&cr={creative}&adp={adposition}&ruid={random}&sadt={adtype}&url={lpurl}

  2. Remove the {lpurl} section of the Lunio template, so it looks like this:
    https://monitor.ppcprotect.com/v1.0/template?accid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&kw={keyword}&mt={matchtype}&nw={network}&cpn={campaignid}&devi={device}&devm={devicemodel}&locp={loc_physical_ms}&loci={loc_interest_ms}&pl={placement}&cr={creative}&adp={adposition}&ruid={random}&sadt={adtype}&url=

  3. Paste your existing tracking to the end of the Lunio template, right after "&url=". The merged template will look like this:
    https://monitor.ppcprotect.com/v1.0/template?accid=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx&kw={keyword}&mt={matchtype}&nw={network}&cpn={campaignid}&devi={device}&devm={devicemodel}&locp={loc_physical_ms}&loci={loc_interest_ms}&pl={placement}&cr={creative}&adp={adposition}&ruid={random}&sadt={adtype}&url=https://redirect-tracker.com/link/click?ds_e_product_channel={product_channel}&ds_e_product_store_id={product_store_id}}&ds_url_v=2&ds_dest_url={lpurl}
