Wondering who might be clicking on your ads? We have the answers for you.
Did you know that up to 50% of internet traffic is non-human? These non-human bots can (and do) still click your ads!
Click fraud comes in many different flavours, but the bulk of it can be summed up in to three distinct categories, explained below:
1. Bots & Non-human trafficRecent studies have shown up to 50% of internet traffic is non-human - and this non-human traffic can (and does) still click on your ads.
Tools like web scrapers trawl the Google results, scraping information on PPC ads and their landing pages. To get this information, many of these tools will in fact click on your ads. You are billed for these clicks, but thanks to Lunio's real-time heuristic analysis we can identify this non-human traffic and block it from ever seeing your ads again.
2. Malicious competitorsHave you ever thought "I wonder if my competitors are clicking my ads?". Well, they probably are! Up to 70% of businesses report clicking a competitors ad purely to cost them money, and it's likely that it's happening to you too.
Thankfully, Lunio provides you the insight you need to see exactly who is clicking your ads. If you are receiving malicious clicks from competitors then we will be able to identify these for you and instantly block these users from clicking your ads again.
3. Organised click farmsClick farms are an increasing problem across the digital marketing landscape. Often set up as part of an organised crime syndicate, click farms operate primarily on the display and app advertising networks, creating millions of fraudulent impressions every single day and spoofing millions of fraudulent clicks.
Some of the largest reported click farms generate revenues in excess of $5m per day and cause significant losses for paid media advertisers.
Fight back against organised click farms and block fake traffic with Lunio's leading detection & protection algorithms.
Other forms of poor quality traffic
Whilst Lunio is designed first and foremost to fight ad fraud, there are also numerous other forms of poor quality traffic that the system can detect and block. Blocking this traffic improves overall traffic quality in your account, leading to improved conversion quality and value as well as an increased ROAS.
1. Low quality publishers
If you are running display ads, you are more than likely paying to display your ads on some very low quality sites. These sites drive many "junk" conversions that are often false/bot leads, or people well outside your target demographics.
With Lunio, you get an extended insight in to where your ads are showing and which placements are driving fraud. This gives you the ability to specifically exclude these low quality publishers, making the display network a more attractive investment for your brand.
2. Accidental clickers
Ever used a mobile app and accidentally clicked on an awkwardly placed ad? You probably have, because app creators will always try to incentivize the most clicks possible to earn more money.
Whilst these clicks aren't malicious fraud, they are still poor quality traffic which isn't going to convert. Lunio's algorithms will automatically analyze which app placements your ads are appearing on, and block future activity from any users who are accidentally clicking ads with no prospect of conversion.
3. Disgruntled customers
Ever had a customer leave a poor review for your business? If so, you have a disgruntled customer - just like most companies eventually have.
But did you know that many of these ex-customers will also repeatedly click your ads, as they know it costs you money?
One Lunio client in the travel industry identified over $35,000 every year being wasted purely on disgruntled customers who were clicking their ads over and over with no interaction or conversion actions. The costs can add up extremely quickly!
Thankfully, Lunio can stop these disgruntled customers in their tracks and protect your ad spend from being depleted.
